On 13th May 2022, the newly elected Chairperson of Maharashtra State Commission for Protection of Child Rights, Hon.  Adv. Susieben Shah, along with Hon.  Secretary, Mr.  Uday Jadhav (IAS), member of the commission Hon.  Adv.  Nilima Chavan, and Mrs. Shobha Shelar, District Women and Child Development Officer, Mumbai City visited Special Rehabilitation Center for Government Girls, Deonar Mumbai.

The Chairperson personally inspected all the girls’ rooms in this rehabilitation center, inquired about the total number of girls in the institution and the facilities available for them. The Chairperson also spent time speaking with the girls in the shelter home and encouraged them to pursue their goals and dreams for the future. She also took time to respond to the questions of the girls.

The members and other officials noted detailed information about the day-to-day challenges faced by the children at the shelter home such as lack of lights and gas facilities. The Chairperson assured everyone that a permanent solution would be arrived at to resolve the issues at the home so the children can have enhanced living conditions.  The Chairperson’s visit encouraged the girls to strive for more and as a sign of gratitude they presented a handmade painting to the Chairperson.
