Dear Citizens of Maharashtra,

Warm Greetings from Maharashtra State Commission for Protection of Child Rights, Worli, Mumbai.

The Commission considers that its mandate is “to ensure that all Laws, Policies, Programs, and Administrative Mechanisms are in consonance with the Child Rights perspective as enshrined in the Constitution of India and the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.”

It is also our endeavor that the entire State & Police Administration establishes Child Friendly mechanism towards, स्वप्न बाल स्नेही महाराष्ट्राचे बाल मत्तांच्या सन्मानाचे.

Friends, through the Commission, we shall endeavor, Examine any law or constitutional provisions to ensure that the safeguards of the law protect child rights

Inquire into child rights violations across Maharashtra. Not only issue remedial Directives thereon but ensure strict implementation of the said Directives.

Examine the risk factors for children affected by social evils, domestic violence, trafficking, maltreatment, torture and exploitation, Cyber-Crime, and Child – prostitution, child marriage to name a few. Recommend appropriate remedial measures to ensure that the child so affected feels cared, looked after by the the State of Maharashtra.

Look into the special care and protection of children from distressed, marginalized and disadvantaged backgrounds to ensure that they join the mainstream of the Society.

Strict implementation of the RTE (Right to Education), a Fundamental Right under the Constitution of India. This would result in equal opportunity of quality education to all Children, specially those from economically backward section of the Society.

Inquire into complaints and take Suo motu cognizance of matter relating to deprivation and violation of child rights or in case of non-implementation of laws providing for protection and development of children or non-compliance of policy decisions, guidelines.

Friends, as a Chairperson of the Commission, I personally have to invite the Community to join us, in and as “ Bal-Rakshak” Let us together march towards, shoulder to shoulder to wards a Child Friendly Maharashtra…
