Smt. Sayali Palkhedkar

Mrs. Sayali Palkhedkar is the Chairperson of Valaya Foundation and Director of Aditya Enterprises & Saideep Enterprises. She is primarily working towards the empowerment of women, and the young, the destitute, and orphans. For a considerable time, Smt Palkhedkar has keenly implemented numerous welfare activities for social upliftment of the rural and tribal children. She has distributed essential items like food grains, clothes, school supplies and uniforms to needy people. Her generous charity also includes installing water filters in various schools to ensure that children have access to clean drinking water and they do not suffer from water-borne diseases. Smt. Palkhedkar is well-known for her healthy lifestyle. She believes that “health is the foremost important thing that stays with us, all the time”. However, her argues that only a healthy individual makes a healthy society. To this end, she has conducted health screening, and blood donation camps on various occasions. While working for the economic well-being of women, Smt Palkhedkar focused her energy towards creating sustainable self-employment, and cottage industry training camps for women. By providing counseling to the parents, she has touched sensitive issues such as domestic violence and family planning in remote areas. Smt Palkhedkar also extends her counseling work for women inmates in the Central prison, and provides physical, material, and psychological support to improve their condition. In the rural districts, Smt Palkhedkar has trained women to run their own businesses. She has contributed by training them in spice making, packing, marketing, and sales. Smt Palkhedkar is a recipient of many prestigious awards. She was honoured by the National Commission for Women India for involvement in social empowerment of women. She is also the recipient of the Savitri Gaurav National Award from the Journalist Association of India. The Manpower Development Public Service Academy celebrated her contribution by bestowing the State Level Charitable Women Nari Ratna Award on her. To honour her enterprising spirit, she received the Entrepreneur Award from the Marathi Journalists Association. Few other notable awards include the Social Award from Avana Patient Service Center, the Samassiddha National Award from the All India Journalists Association, Shaktiman Mahila Ratna Award, and the Rani Durgavati Motherhood Award. She is an empowered woman on the mission of empowering others for a better womanhood. We salute Smt Palkhedkar and her incredible contribution to the betterment of the society.
